HIV/AIDS Peer Education Lifeskills Course

Friends of Londiani has run peer education courses since 2002 in Kenya.  So far we estimate that approximately 6,000 people have completed the course.

HIV/AIDs CourseThis programme is more than HIV/AIDS education; it is a life-skills development programme. It was designed for use with girls and young women but we found it to be suitable and easily adapted in our work with both women’s and men’s groups.

The primary focus is to help participants to look at the challenges and problems of growing up, and to develop good decision making skills particularly relating to sexual and reproductive health.

The course is designed to assist people to face the challenges of life and to make complex decisions about their sexual and reproductive health as well as to develop and sustain positive health behaviours.

The course has been updated by Friends of Londiani and adapted to suit the community groups that we work with.

The programme helps the participants by giving them knowledge that can be used to develop attitudes and skills to positively meet life’s challenges.
