In November 2008 a team of volunteers from Ireland worked in partnership with a team from Kenyan Ministry of Health in running 2 Essential Obstetric Care courses in Nakuru working in partnership with the Ministry of Health Kenya.

A team of 8 Irish Volunteers traveled to Kenya to work with the EOC Team in the District of Kipkelion in running 2 EOC Courses. Participants came from each of the 51 health dispensaries and clinics in the District, and the District Medical Officer of Health, Dr Brenda Makokha formally opened the course.

The course instructors were both Irish and Kenyan, and the course administration was handed over to FOL staff in Kenya.

Thanks to Irish Aid the EOC Team have received excellent training equipment and supplies which will remain in Kenya for further training.

The plan for the future is to have an EOC Team in the Kipkelion District co-ordinating and running all courses. This team will continue to be supported by FOL.
